What a start to life it has been for me at Gradconsult! From helping Amber to deliver two sessions on my first day, including ‘Think Like a Recruiter’ and a digital assessment centre simulation, to starting in the middle of RISE6 cohort’s recruitment process, things have moved quickly during my short time here! Being fully involved, right from the off, has enabled me to settle quickly and to enjoy my work – making me feel like I’m actively contributing to the fantastic work being done here. It has been a fantastic start, which has been made possible by working with such an amazing team, who offer constant support and guidance (and whose expertise I can rely on!).
The work has been exactly what I was looking for in a role after leaving university. This, in combination with working from home, has been a great start to my career after university and has validated the reasons why I wanted a change in my career by pursuing a degree. This has enabled me to get into work which I am currently loving. Nothing is guaranteed, however, and there will be more hard work to come and some up-days and some down-days. Having said this, my reflections on my experiences prior to my new role have prepared me for embracing the challenges that this opportunity has already seen me take on, and for any future challenges that will come along.
I am currently in the middle-to-tail-end of the RISE6 cohort recruitment process and have loved every aspect of the work. Reviewing applications, video interviews, and being able to see candidates showcase themselves in assessment centres has been fantastic. How people behave has always been fascinating to me, which led me to study a degree in psychology – and you certainly see some fascinating things in applications, video interviews, and assessment centres!
Moving beyond this RISE cohort, I am looking forward to working on design for workshops at universities up and down the country, who are looking to help their students with their careers. I am currently working on some design for a bootcamp and York St. John university, with upcoming work at the likes of the Welsh universities and University of Derby in August. The work has been fast paced from the start and has allowed me to hit the ground running. I look forward to the next couple of months (and beyond!) working at Gradconsult.
