The growing interest in the Peers in Careers space was evident at the student-led conference, Peers in Careers, delivered by Gradconsult in partnership with Group GTI in May earlier this year. The conference demonstrated the intrigue in this area, where 24 universities were represented, and 65 students attended. This success has paved the way for a second conference, scheduled for November 2023. In addition, At Gradconsult we are working with a growing number of universities to develop a peers in careers offer and deliver training to their student team.
However, despite the interest, what we often hear from careers professionals is that there is something missing in this space. That is: the opportunity to make connections and be part of an innovative community of practice.
We are excited to launch the Gradconsult Peers in Careers Ideas Factory.
The Ideas Factory will provide a space for colleagues to share ideas, best practice, and to be inspired by new thinking from outside the careers world. Additionally, the programme will enable colleagues to co-create, helping to truly unlock the potential of this exciting new field.
We understand that each careers team faces unique challenges and opportunities. As a result, this programme is not just about us talking about 'how to run’ a student team, or ‘how to build’ this service. Instead, the programme will focus on cultivating an environment which has community, creativity and innovation at its core.
In 5 sessions we will explore key topics relevant to ‘peers in careers’ work. 4 of the sessions will be delivered online, each online session will be 2.5 hours long. Each session will include the following sections: practical tips, student voices, sector insights, inspirational ideas, talking points, and more!
Mid-way through the programme, you will get the opportunity to enjoy an in-person event, hosted at an established service. You will be able to visit a physical space and meet a student team. This will give you the chance to see a service come to life, enabling further inspiration. You will also be able to network with other participants and the Gradconsult team, cementing connections made online.
