I am Zac, I’m in Year 10, and I just completed a week of work experience with Gradconsult. In my week at Gradconsult, I have learned a lot of helpful skills that will surely help me now and in the near future.
On my first day, I got a complete tour of the Workstation, and then attempted (and failed) a baby picture quiz to get to know the staff. Later that day, I organized the Gradconsult library, and made an excel document so the office knew where all the books are. I then went for lunch with Ollie and Amy – which was free!
The next day, I researched business networking events for Kylie, and learned about different project management methods and software. I also learned a lot about what a Myers-Briggs test is, and how it helps employers. That afternoon, Ollie showed me what the Gradconsult website looks like from the inside, and how to change it for different situations.
On Wednesday, I learned what does and doesn’t make a good CV, and learned common mistakes made on CV’s and application forms. I graded many different real CV’s, and then had a go at creating my own.
On Thursday, Amy showed me how lots of modern businesses use video interview software, and what criteria Gradconsult use when employing people. I then went on to give some video interviews a score out of 16. I then took Ned (the office dog) for a walk with Amy - which was the highlight of the week!
And finally, I would like to thank all of the Gradconsult staff for a fun and helpful week of work experience, and I would recommend it to anyone. Zac
